Oh the Places You'll Go, by Dr. Seuss. It inspires me more than any other book in the world.

Tough one- as far as inspiring me, "Facing Up" by Bear Grylls. It would take a long time to explain the inspiration that that gave me. As far as just being brilliant, Dante's Divine Comedy. Amazing philosophical/theological points, tied in with historical and literature references... and it all rhymed.

Thomas Paines "Common Sense" for the way it opens ones mind to true freedom and liberty.

The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman. Interesting perspective on the world economies. Makes you think!

I just realized I never answered this myself - my favorite book is Heidi. I have a copy that has been passed down since my Great Grandmother, and I read it every Christmas. Reminds me to never lose hope; everything works out in the end.

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, hands down. It's so amazing; many themes and symbols- I like it because it's especially about redemption.

Profound yet simple and absolutely hilarious to read: #1. Wind In The Willows - About a pompous, uppity toad and his misadventures. I am defining "favorite" by the most number of times read over the last couple of years. You can get through this one in a day.
