Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, hands down. It's so amazing; many themes and symbols- I like it because it's especially about redemption.

Strictly God... and Ballroom

I started ballroom dancing lessons during my first semester at Franciscan University. Coincidentally, my parents began taking lessons that same exact time. I told them I would join them when I came home- that is, after graduation.

Taking ballroom lessons back home and meeting and practicing with some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met has been such a blessing in my life. When I started going last August, I felt called to make going to the Monday night lessons a commitment. I’m glad I had… Continue

Karol Wojtyla: Pope John Paul II as a young man

As a seminarian

“Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.”

It was no wonder that I felt God calling me to pray to the Holy Spirit before I delved into reading about our former Pope, John Paul II. As soon as I began to read on his life… Continue

'Born Alive' Baloney

September 24, 2008

An abortion survivor claims she would have died if Obama had his way. She's wrong. But Obama's counterattack misfires too.

Summary

A anti-abortion group is running an ad featuring a woman who says she survived a failed abortion and that "if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here." She's wrong. If she'd been born in Illinois, Illinois law would have protected her with or without the… Continue

Sarah Palin: How do you pronounce her last name?

The following is my opinion on the Vice Presidential debate between Palin and Biden.

First of all, misinforming people and telling everybody half-truths about the opposing candidates is just what politicians do. There was more of that in this debate than a Michael Moore ‘documentary’. But besides that, I’m just writing this to express my opinion toward what I liked and what I didn’t like about Sarah Palin.

The first time I heard about Sarah Palin was when a coworker said “John McCain picked a… Continue

The Emasculated Culture

Masculinity is misunderstood so much by our society because we do not see it the way God intended it to be.

It is just as it happened in the book of Genesis, in the first days of Creation. Every time we disobey the Word of God, we will live to see the damage we have caused. When men and women in our society go against what God had intended for their roles to be, many problems are created, adding to the problems that sin has caused since the beginning of Creation. It is not simply this ignoring… Continue
